Firstly, you should try starting your Retain Server manually. If you cannot get the Retain Server to start as a desktop application manually then see Why can't I start the Retain Server?.
If you can get the Server to start manually but not as a service, then you should check your RetainServersService.ini file so see that the location of the Server is correctly specified - it may look something like this:
| DisplayName=RetainServersService
|
| p1=C:\Program Files\Retain Client-Server 358 Trial\Server\RetainServer.exe
|
Users occasionally experience a problem in running the Retain Server as a service against an Oracle database, where there is the following message in the server log file: 'Authentication adapter initialization failed'. This can be resolved by changing the log-on to the service to be the NT username of the user in question rather than Local System account.
