If you get this message when trying to create a new .rdb file in Retain Manager then it is likely that your server is pointing to a database which does not have the Retain tables in it. If you have run the table creation script, ensure you have run it against the correct database (it is common to accidentally run the script against the 'Master' database when using SQL Server, for instance, as Query Analyser defaults to this).
