From Retain version 3.6 and onwards, as you drag a booking you will see a faint 'ghost' of a booking move across the wallchart which represents where your booking will appear if you let go of the mouse button at any given moment.
In older versions of Retain, as you move the booking bar, you will notice a cross hair at the bottom left hand corner of the rectangle representing the booking. The middle of this cross hair needs to be positioned within the row and column that you wish to add the booking bar to.
