The core role of Retain is to manage resources. It primarily achieves this by means of a “booking” system - i.e. where a “resource” is allocated to a “job” for a specific period. In turn Retain can analyze the use of resources and provide management information. It allows a great deal of flexibility in setting up these elements.
Resources can be anything from staff to assets such as cars, conference rooms and overhead projectors. Each resource can be given classifications, groupings and/or attributes which can be used in the allocation process and for producing reports. For example, you may classify staff by grades, group them by departments and skills.
