Retain Resource Planning System

Retain Resource Planning System is available for the Microsoft Windows Operating System. The following database platforms are supported:

Retain is a client-server application which connects to a database. It consists of several components:

Database - All data is saved in a database. The Retain Planner edition includes an embedded database removing the need for database management. Retain Corporate and Retain Enterprise supports SQL Server or Oracle database platforms. Retain Notes stores data in LOtus Notes (NSF) files.
Server - The Retain Server connects to the database. It manages all client access between the client applications and the database. The Retain Server is normally installed on a server machine and run as a Windows Service. Retain Notes can utilise the Domino Server.
Clients - The client applications consist of Retain (the main planning application), Retain Manager (default settings tool) and Retain Security (managing user access). Client applications are normally installed on a shared drive or on local machines.

Retain is provided with a client application called Retain Security for managing user access to all client applications. Retain Security allows:

Setting up users with a Microsoft Windows account name. Restrict users by assigning roles.
Create custom roles.(only available in Retain Corporate and Retain Enterprise editions)
Change field properties.
Manage default settings: colour schemes, diaries, currency rates. (only available in Retain Enterprise)

The software requirements are:

The database can reside on Unix or Windows Operating Systems
The Retain Server should be running on Windows Server 2003 or 2008, Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista
The client applications support all Windows Operating Systems

The hardware requirements vary depending on the edition of Retain. The minimum recommendation is:
